“I’ve been shopping consignment shops since I was a kid back east with my mom. I’ve seen TONS of them and Modo is one of my very favorites! It’s a small store but rather than it being limiting–it’s actually refreshingly not overwhelming. Too many stores pack themselves full so that it’s a pain to search. Their online space is such a nice addition, as I can search at home, send an email about a few pieces, and they’re waiting for me when I get there! But best of all, the folks who work there are SO nice. They somehow always remember my name, have great taste in clothes, are willing to give opinions (but aren’t pushy), and seem to have a perfect balance of helpful but not intrusive. “Modo is a great shop that first caught my eye when it was located in the previous spot on SE Morrison – the mural on the outside was amazing! Stopped in here today as I am determined to either shop consignment, vintage, or make it myself this Spring. I found so many incredible items! Velvet brand T shirts (soft as silk!), jeans galore, & so many cute accessories! I limited my search to a couple of things & scored with a gorgeous new blouse for under $25.00! Jeans are iffy…if they are used, well, someone else has worn them in, & often, in not-quite-the-right spots for me…so, the search for affordable new denim continues. I have my eye on a few key pieces I spied today.
For my Bay Area friends, this place reminds me, somewhat, of Mirabelle on Lakeshore, but cooler…the vibe is decidedly Pacific Northwest, and the selection is not quite as upscale, yet I found lots of beautiful clothing for a fraction of the price of retail stores. The service is top-notch, the music is played at a level that doesn’t have me screaming from the get-go, & the prices are fantastic!
